Winners of World Challenge Cup 2017!

The 2017 FIG World Challenge Cup circuit was finished with Kazan. It was the last chance for all gymnasts to earn points according to their placements in the All-around and with each apparatus. Each gymnast takes 50 points for first place, 45 for second, 40 for third, and so on.

Gymnasts’ three highest point totals across all World Challenge Cup events were taken into account to generate the final rankings. When all was said and done, Bravikova ranked first in the standings in two events, while Olympic champion Russia continued its long-held reign among the Groups.

Belarus’s Katsiaryna Halkina is concluding a breakout season that included the first All-around victory of her career on the world circuit in Berlin. That result, combined with others, helped Halkina to the World Challenge Cup All-around title.

Bravikova, one of several new Russian Rhythmic gymnasts to have risen in the wake of Margarita Mamun and Yana Kudryavtseva’s 2016 Olympic exploits, had successful outings at the World Challenge Cup stop in Portimao, Portugal, where she won the All-around, as well as at the Minsk World Challenge Cup, where she was victorious with the Clubs and the Ribbon.

Russia’s Ekaterina Selezneva was the series winner with the Hoop, thanks to victories with that apparatus in Berlin as well as in Guadalajara, Spain.

Bolstered by overall wins in Guadalajara and Berlin, the Olympic champion Russian Group proved uncatchable in the World Challenge Cup All-around competition as well as with the 3 Balls and 2 Ropes, finishing well ahead of Italy and Belarus in the rankings for both events. Russia also won the series with the 5 Hoops, ahead of Belarus and Japan.
